Seafood have always been part of authentic ramen meals. Since Japan have an easy access to the sea and the population eats a lot of fish, seafood became an important ingredient of ramen soups. Almost all kind of fish can be used, but we often see shrimps, scallops and lobster. Fish can also be used to make the soup broth, a popular Dashi uses Niboshi (dried sardines).

Also, seafood is a very popular flavor of instant soup base. The major ramen companies feature flavors like shrimps and seafood. Seafood soup base are in the most popular, right after chicken and beef flavors.
